FAQ
Common questions about Well Supplied Radio Deals. Still stuck? Email greg@westcountytech.com.
How do you pick deals?
I check prices against recent history and skip radios with a bad track record. Each deal says whether you need a license to transmit with it. Always confirm the model, band coverage, and what is in the box on the retailer page.
If a price is only "cheap" versus a fake list price, it does not make the site.
Do I need a license?
FRS radios: no license. GMRS: an FCC license with no exam that covers your immediate family, applied for through the FCC ULS system. Amateur (ham) radio: you pass an exam, starting with Technician. Anyone can listen to a scanner or NOAA weather radio. Each deal page says which applies.
Are cheap import radios legal to use?
It depends on the radio and the service. Some low-cost handhelds are certified only for ham use, and transmitting on GMRS or FRS with them is not allowed. When a deal has a certification catch like that, the deal page says so.
Do you earn commissions?
Yes, from some links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That does not raise your price. Full disclosure.
Who handles returns and shipping?
We do not sell or ship anything. Returns, refunds, warranties, and shipping issues go to the retailer (usually Amazon). Use their order tools or support pages.
Why did the price change after you posted?
Prices are snapshots. Retailers change them often, especially on limited-time badges and coupons. Check the live retailer page before you buy. We mark deals expired when they no longer hold.
